Not Your Mama's DAC

by Amelia Dalton

In this week's Fish Fry, I check out the 2012 Design Automation Conference in San Francisco, California. But we're not just covering the wide range of EDA tools at the show. Oh no, we're checking out the village that is the Design Automation Conference. To add another layer of excitement, we've got not one but three C-Level interviews to throw your way, starting with the foundry guys who use EDA tools (Jack Harding, CEO - eSilicon), then on to the VHDL parser platforms that practically every EDA company uses (Michiel Ligthart, COO, Verific) and finally to the guys who break things for a living (Adnan Hamid CEO, Breker Technologies).

Also this week, I'm giving away a XMEGA-A3BU Xplained kit (courtesy of Atmel) but you'll have to tune in to find out how to win.

This week's Fish Fry is all about the Design Automation Conference ecosystem. I interview Verific COO Michiel Ligthart about the newest developments in their "Build Your Own RTL tools", I chat with eSilicon CEO Jack Harding about the trends in the EDA industry and I also chat with Breker CEO Adnan Hamid about how exactly he breaks things for a living. What did you think of this year's show?

Not directly related to your topic at hand, but I would find very helpful if the Fish Fry was posted in a podcast friendly format with an RSS feed.

I visit the site regularly, but for more time consuming (audio/video) things I usually download and queue up several tech podcasts at a time for my commute on which I don't have net access. I don't know if this has ever been considered, but I'm sure I can't be the only one out there who would appreciate this. Thanks.

I would like to have this super-dooper XMEGA board. I think it would be a nice clock for my desk, nerdy-style of course wink
